DNS Record Lookup Tool

This tool performs live DNS queries for any domain name using Google Public DNS over HTTPS (DoH). Results are returned directly from DNS nameservers with no caching on our side, giving you the most current propagation state.

Supported Record Types

  • A β€” IPv4 address mapping. The most common record type.
  • AAAA β€” IPv6 address mapping.
  • MX β€” Mail exchange records. Shows which servers handle email for the domain.
  • NS β€” Nameserver records. Shows which DNS servers are authoritative for the domain.
  • TXT β€” Text records. Used for SPF, DKIM, DMARC, site verification, and more.
  • CNAME β€” Canonical name alias. Points one domain name to another.
  • SOA β€” Start of Authority. Contains zone metadata including serial number and refresh intervals.

When to Use DNS Lookup

  • Verifying DNS propagation after changing hosting or nameservers
  • Checking mail server configuration before troubleshooting email delivery
  • Validating SPF and DMARC records for email authentication
  • Confirming CNAME chains for CDN or load balancer configurations
  • Investigating domain ownership or nameserver changes

TTL (Time To Live)

Each DNS record includes a TTL value in seconds. This indicates how long DNS resolvers and clients will cache the record before re-querying. Lower TTL values (e.g. 300s) mean changes propagate faster but increase DNS query load. Higher values (e.g. 86400s = 24 hours) reduce load but slow propagation.
