Internet Speed Test β€” Measure Your Real Connection Speed

This speed test measures your actual internet connection performance using Cloudflare's global network of data centers. Unlike some speed test services, this test does not require Flash, Java or any browser plugins. Results reflect the performance of your connection to Cloudflare's nearest point of presence.

Understanding Your Speed Test Results

  • Download Speed (Mbps) β€” How fast data travels from the internet to your device. This affects streaming video quality, web browsing speed, and file download times. For reference: 4K Netflix requires ~25 Mbps, HD video calling requires ~8 Mbps.
  • Upload Speed (Mbps) β€” How fast data travels from your device to the internet. Relevant for video calls, uploading files, live streaming, and remote desktop connections.
  • Ping / Latency (ms) β€” The round-trip time for a packet to travel from your device to the test server and back. Critical for online gaming (under 30ms is excellent), VoIP calls, and real-time applications.
  • Jitter (ms) β€” The variation in latency over time. High jitter causes choppy audio and video in real-time applications even if average ping is low. Under 5ms is ideal for VoIP.

Factors Affecting Speed Test Results

  • Other devices using the same network simultaneously
  • Wi-Fi signal strength and interference
  • ISP throttling during peak hours
  • Distance to the nearest Cloudflare PoP
  • VPN usage (typically reduces speed by 10–40%)
